Closed for Business--Updated w/Belly Photo

The doctor's appointment yesterday resulted in an "all quiet" determination. There's been no noticable change over last week, so other than chronologically, I am no closer to delivery than before. Both the bebe' and I are in good health, so it really isn't anything to complain about. Additionally, I'm still a week away from my due date.

So why does hearing that it will be a while yet suck so bad? Because pregnancy has been friggin' hard. I hear people say all the time, "It's easier to take care of them when they're on the inside, as opposed to the outside." True. I have no doubts of that. However, this host is ready for the parasitic invasion to be over. Or at least to be external.

  1. I'm sure your doula has talked with you about this already, but I wanted to toss it out there anyway...

there's an emotional toll on women when they consent to vag exams in the last weeks- If your doc said you were 3cm dilated, 75% effaced, you might think labor was imminent (or at least very close), and you could sit like that for weeks! Or, you hear over and over that you're not dilated at all, and think you still have a long way to go... it can be very frustrating and taxing on the spirit. It might also give a sense of control, or answer that "I just need to KNOW" question.

What is your 'question'? :) What are you trying to answer by having the exams... and is the 'benefit' of having your question answered worth the 'risk' of finding out the answer? Only you know- but I just wanted to offer that process and see if it means anything to you.

Also, have you looked into any of the methods you can do at home to encourage things along (not induce, per se, but help things to get going)? Evening Primrose Oil applied to your cervix can help your cervix soften, but of course run anything by your provider before doing it (disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer!)

  2. It must be very comfortable in the there for lil Freya. I bet she'll come soon - she has to!
Can you get a massage in the next few days? Will that help?
    Just a thought.

  3. Oh Poop! I was really hoping for some better news than this! I really know how you feel. Manda was 3 weeks late and Kate, 2! I felt like I was part elephant, at least as far as my gestesional time tables. Hang in there and it'll happen, but I'm thinking that Miss Freya is taking her sweet time. :~)
    Hugs!!!

  4. When my SIL was at the state you're in now, she decided to nest..and then some. She ripped out an old built in closet(old house in the North End)sorta with her bare hands...not quite, but I think with a hammer and crowbar. The next day, she went into labor.

Rest easy, Casey. Let lil Freya bake as long as she needs to.

I'm keeping good happy birthing vibes your way

  5. You look like you are going to pop! I hear eating eggplant will bring on labor. A little eggplant parmesian, anyone?

  6. well you look adorable

  7. eggplant brings on labour does it? Hrmmmmm....

You look still look awesome Casey!! Hey I can't see your bellybutton... Did yours not pop out? (mine hasn't fully popped so I don't know if it will but you can see it through my clothes for sure lol)

  8. Ooh a treat for us - your belly! I love these photos! This will be your last one, won't it?

  9. I KNOW how you feel!! :)

We don't get those tests here. I have to see to the midwife every week, but she only checks my bloofpressure & listens to the baby's heart.

Hang in there hon'! Just a few more days...... or weeks.. but NOT months! Yay :)

  10. Your belly looks great! I can't see even one stretch mark, you lucky girl. :-) I'm sorry there haven't been any changes--but that doesn't always mean much. I never had a lot of preliminaries to my labor except the day before and the day of.

  11. while you look absolutely beautiful and glowing, I can not get over the fact that YOUR DAUGHTER is right in THERE!! *pokes* Holy CRAP!! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
